I wasn’t going to buy this one because of the price, but you really get what you pay for and this is worth the money. It does make a little noise but not bad.

Amazon is so much cheaper than everywhere else, even Walmart. And with free shipping on a lot of things here, who wants to go to the store anymore and burn gas.

It comes with 2 fruit roll screen and 2 easy clean screens and 5 normal trays. The fruit roll screens are awesome. All told, if you’re just looking for a decent, solid, cheap dehydrator and you don’t mind the above issues for whatever reason, this is a great machine. I just wonder if maybe I should have spent a little more to get something a little more user-friendly as far as my own personal specifications go. This is an excellent price; just make sure you get all your accessories at the same time because you will need them once you get going! I have to say I am impressed with this machine. The fruit roll sheets and clean screen trays were extremely helpful and I have already ordered more. I would not recommend drying fruit without the extra screens as they do get sticky and hard to peel off of the regular trays.

Avoid dehydrators without blower motors as they will take forever to make jerky and that means bacterial growth- this one works like a dream! Does exactly what you need it to do – which is drying veggies and fruit. You must constantly keep an eye on the progress of dehydrating your food so as not to under- or over-dehydrate. It is best to consult the instruction booklet that comes with the unit as to the approximate times and set a separate timer. I probably should have sliced the fruit thinner and I will next time. My husband is begging me to do jerky!

I also have a better understanding of why dried fruit and veggies are so expensive. You can start with seven full trays of pears (about 8 pears), and when they’re dry end up with less than two cups! The Nesco beef jerky spice is really great and so easy to use. I use my dehydrator at least twice a month and had no problems so far. The trays are sturdy and durable. The fan is very quiet but still powerful enough to dry the foods in a reasonable time.

Also, it comes with a smaller grated tray that sits inside the real trays in order to keep small pieces from falling through the grate. It also has a couple fruit leather, yogurt trays which are solid instead of grated. They were such a hit (and I dried so many) that I even sold them to a local cafe. Everything I have dried has come out amazing. It makes food science all that more fun. Dehydrating seems to concentrate flavors. It had advertised features that suggested it would work faster and more efficiently than the “cheaper” models, including a fan to force heated air more uniformly through the drying trays without constant rotation, and a thermostat to set the temperature settings. Actual experience varied, however, as the unit did not seem to dehydrate the food contents any faster than the 120W RONCO convection dryer. It comes with five trays, as well as additional inserts for making fruit roll ups and mesh screens so that items don’t fall through the trays. You can add up to five additional trays.
